:-)
since my debacle at the Place That (doesn't anymore) Sells Sewing Machines in Daly City, I have gone e-baying and await delivery of a used Bernina 1100 D. Making me an all Bernina household - it joins my original 930 Record and the backup I bought 2 yrs ago on ebay, a used 830.

Re: a serge of energy
Fri, October 26, 2007 - 4:29 AMIt arrived in wonderful condition - the previous owner clearly maintained it well and had it cleaned before selling it. On my first go-round it purred like a Bernina does, and it chained off nicely, but the tensions were off. Then I realized the (old) thread I had from yrs ago is actually cotton and just as thick as my regular sewing machine thread. DOH! So I went and picked up some good quality thin poly thread for overlocks this afternoon on my way in to work, and will start over w/ that and see if it does the trick. -

Fri, November 2, 2007 - 1:57 AMDifferent threads DO make a difference. Once you get the tensioning dialed in, you're good to go!

Re: a serge of energy
Fri, November 2, 2007 - 1:56 AMGeeze.. I HATE that place. I call it: The place that BREAKS sewing machines. I took a vintage Singer in there for a tune-up and they wound up making it WORSE! It doesn't back-stitch any more and they broke the thread tensioner right in front of me after I reminded them that I asked for them to look at it during the tune-up. They simply shrugged and told me I should buy a new Pfaff. Idiots!
