Hi : ).
Is there a shop that anyone would recommend (online or B&M) where one could find odd sized buttons? I'm looking for 2 1/3 - 3' diameter shiny black plastic dome buttons, and really don't know the first place to find something that large and unusual. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thank you,
Grrr

Re: Buttons?
Fri, March 6, 2009 - 7:33 AMBritex usually has a pretty good selection but it's awfully $$$.
If anyone is looking for amazing, spectacular buttons there is a wonderful seller who will be at the quilt show in SF this weekend. She carries wonderful vintage & new glass, in addition to all sort of other media. I can't remember her name but it's pretty obvious who the "button lady" is... -

Tue, March 10, 2009 - 5:02 AMThanks for the resources, folks : ). Sadly, I've already been to Britex and Stone Mountain already, but great suggestions.
I think that I'm just looking for something that is too bizarre to exist <lol>. Ah, well.
Again, thank you for the input! -

Tue, March 10, 2009 - 9:55 PMDid you try Satin Moon on Clement St in SF? You never know what you'll find there.
Or you can just haunt estate sales the rest of your life...actually, yknow the best thing might be to make one out of Fimo and then apply many layers of whatever color and finish you want. -

Re: Buttons?
Tue, March 10, 2009 - 11:33 PMThat's what I suggested to the creator of the garment <lol>! She thinks it would be too heavy, but I may just make them and mail them anyhow, just in case they suit. Thanks for the backup : ). -

Re: Buttons?
Wed, March 11, 2009 - 10:14 PMfimo buttons are not heavy, but they do need to be removed before dry cleaning or any other cleaning... so could be tedious

Wed, March 11, 2009 - 10:14 PMthere used to be a FABULOUS button store on San Pablo in upper Albany... close to El Cerrito or maybe in El Cerrito? Wonderful wonderful place... gawd, I hope that place isn't gone... across the street from the Giant Hamburgers place... the road T's into San Pablo Avenue right into the button store...
anyone crusing that area could check it out. An invaluable resource for vintage and unusual buttons -
