I'm stunned!
Just drove down to Daly City to peruse sergers w/ an eye to buying one....and they are GONE. Empty storefront save for a few dismantled display racks, no signage, no notices....the website is still up and the phone is connected but simply rings and rings....I'm about to look up the Sta Rosa store and see if they exist.
Now I have to figure out where to buy a serger....

Wed, October 10, 2007 - 3:51 PMNoooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I took one of my machines up to the Santa Rosa store just over a year ago, and they seemed to be doing well. I hope they are still there, I've got to take two of mine in to get some stuff done soon. -

Re: Place that DOESN'T Sell Sewing Machines!
Wed, October 10, 2007 - 5:05 PMThe Sta Rosa store answers the phone (though they simply say "the sewing store") and ARE in business and deny knowledge of the Daly City store other than that "they closed."
Sonia, its a very well known long established biz called The Place That Sells Sewing Machines. -

Thu, October 11, 2007 - 12:53 PMawww that's awful news!
That place was awesome.
I got my serger at a sewing machine and vaccuum repair place in the east bay off of shattuck ave. But they don't have the widest variety. -

Re: Place that DOESN'T Sell Sewing Machines!
Sun, October 21, 2007 - 1:20 PMI was at the place in Berkeley last week (Berkeley Vacuum Center, on Shattuck) to drop off a serger for repair, and it looked to me like they had no sergers for sale. You might want to call and check before you drive over. They were very friendly and seemed competent, byu the way. But I haven't gotten my machine back, so we'll see... -

Re: Place that DOESN'T Sell Sewing Machines!
Fri, November 2, 2007 - 1:59 AMGood riddance to them! I HATED that place
I called them: The place that BREAKS sewing machines.
I took a vintage Singer in there for a tune-up and they wound up making it WORSE! It doesn't back-stitch any more and they broke the thread tensioner right in front of me after I reminded them that I asked for them to look at it during the tune-up. They simply shrugged and told me I should buy a new Pfaff. Idiots! -

Re: Place that DOESN'T Sell Sewing Machines!
Fri, November 2, 2007 - 10:06 AMi too hated that place.
I called them: The place that STEALS sewing machines.
I took a vintage Singer in there because I was in the middle of a crucial project. They tried to convince me to get a new machine, also, but I loved that machine, was the one I had grown up on. I asked them to find me an exact duplicate of that machine and I would buy that. They found one, in time for me to finish the project... but the as for the original Singer foot control... they KEPT that and gave me a generic one with the replacement sewing machine.
That was just so petty, especially as they knew how much I loved that machine, how sentimental I was about it... and obviously the nifty wide branded foot control was a great part of the sewing machine.
Good riddance.
