Does anyone have a clue when to take your machines in for tune ups and cleanings?
I've been using my machines like a workhorse. There is fuzz in them and as hard as I tried cleaning them out with a brush and blowing, it just isn't cutting the mustard.
Any suggestions?

PS I have an old Singer. Last year it started skipping stitches. I took it out this year and tried it again and the top thread isn't even catching the bobbin thread. Any clue what is going on?
PPS I also have a Pfaff embroidery sewing machine. My computer died and my new computer is not compatible with the old Pfaff. I've heard the new cable (which is quite expensive) doesn't always work. I have another cable (not a Pfaff) which has all the male and female parts to fit between my machine and computer, but for some reason, the disc that came with it can't be read. Any suggestions on this too?

Re: Sewing Machine and Serger Check Up? And other questions
Fri, October 12, 2007 - 4:40 PMI used Sunset Sewing Center on Geary btw 16-17. They fixed my ancient Singer and oohed and aahed over it, too. I mean it was a simple fix on a really simple machine, but still!
It was $90. -

Sat, October 13, 2007 - 11:33 PMHi Amy:
Thank you for the information.
I was kind of wondering when the time is to take a machine for a tune up? Needles need to be replaced every six to eight hours of sewing. Is there a formula like that for machine tune ups?
